Sorbette
The Sorbette is small, non-toxic, super-absorbent sponge on a shaft, which is used by some researchers to collect saliva from infants or toddlers. The volume of saliva recovered from each Sorbette is usually in the range of 50-200 µL. To ensure adequate sample, two or three Sorbettes are used together or consecutively for each subject, and they are placed together in one conical tube for centrifugation. Samples collected using the Sorbette can be tested for alpha-amylase, cortisol, cotinine, and SIgA.
