Estriol
The Salimetrics Estriol Salivary Immunoassay kit is intended for measuring salivary estriol levels in pregnant women. Estriol is a female sex steroid hormone produced in large quantities by the placenta during pregnancy, and rising levels of estriol throughout the pregnancy indicate an intact maternal-placental-fetal unit. Estriol levels increase sharply in the weeks before spontaneous labor, and elevated levels have been associated with pre-term birth and low-birth-weight infants.
