Androstenedione
The Salimetrics Androstenedione Enzyme Salivary Immunoassay Kit measures levels of androstenedione. Androstenedione is a weak hormone that has the ability to directly convert to testosterone. High levels of androstenedione may lead to elevated male characteristics. Especially in young women, elevated androstenedione levels can disrupt normal sexual development and lead to severe acne, excessive body hair, disruption of their menstrual cycle, and even infertility. When combined with too many estrogens, androstenedione can bring early onset of puberty and compromises growth by blocking growth hormones.
