Blood Contamination
The Salimetrics Salivary Blood Contamination Assay Kit measures the presence of transferrin in oral fluids. When saliva samples are contaminated with blood they may be discolored. Discolored samples should be discarded as the levels of measured salivary analytes may be compromised. However, studies show that the presence of blood in oral fluid samples is not always perceptible to the naked eye. The Salivary Blood Contamination Kit was designed as an efficient and inexpensive quantitative method to pre-screen saliva samples and improve assay validity.
